Designing spaces for healing and recovery – Marian Boswall
Marian is a leading landscape architect working internationally from her studio in Staplehurst, Kent. She is known for creating beautiful spaces often in sensitive places. For years Marian taught Historic Garden Conservation at Greenwich University. She is Gardens Advisor to a number of important gardens, estates and trusts and writes a regular series for Listed Heritage, the magazine for Listed Buildings.
As a plantswoman Marian is passionate about the healing power of plants. The Blackthorn Trust Healing Garden which she designed is set in the historic walled of Barming Hospital and is part of an holistic approach to health that works with mind, body, spirit and the land. It provides a beautiful reflective space for healing and recovery.
Marian has also created a private sanctuary garden in London, including a spiral labyrinth surrounded by wildflower and woodland planting with meandering paths to a yoga studio, providing a haven away from the bustle of the busy digital age for children to play and adults to exercise, meditate and entertain friends.
Join us to hear more about how Marian interprets her client’s needs using the therapeutic nature of plants, light, shapes, scents and textures to create beautiful, restful and healing gardens.
